EXANIMA MAP 4 UPDATE

This change won't be ready in time for the Faye update though, but should follow shortly thereafter. players brought to 0 HP in PvP in red and black zones will instantly die. we will also, as already announced, remove the need to execute for PvP fights, i.e.Quality of loot for high end bosses will be improved significantly.Mobs outside of green / yellow zones will continue to execute players. The player that died should be the only person with a giant flashing skull billboard pinpointing where they died on their map.Īfter talking over it with the team once more, here is how we'd like to go ahead Death to other players leave the skull in so that it attracts pvp to that location, but for PvE it serves no purpose other than heavily reducing the possibility of even recovering your gear. If you want to keep execution by mobs, then at least remove the giant flashing skull on the map when that death is by a mob. In black zones when a gatherer dies to a mob, I can count in the millions of silver just how much I have gained from running to collect from dead corpses in open areas because I saw a notification in the chat and a giant flashing beacon on the map to go loot from. In larger pvp battles and certainly around objectives such as a castle fight for example this is less impactful because everyone already knows the deaths are happening around that objective. The only benefit is that it attracts pvp to one area, it also however badly disadvantages the person that got executed.

In open areas, its even worse, I don't see how combining full gear loss with notifying everyone on the map just where your gear is can possibly be considered a good mechanic. How exactly do you explain this, and considering death sends you often many zones away to first need to regear before you can even think about recovering your gear, how is a giant flashing skull billboard a "fair" or "hardcore" mechanic? It's certainly hardcore for the person that died, it means that they can pretty much be guaranteed that their body is empty by the time they get there unless the dungeon was otherwise empty.

I think the worst part of this mechanic, both in dungeons and in open areas, is the giant flashing skull that pops up on the map pinpointing exactly where your gear is for everyone in the region. There is still the chance of a PvP death in a dungeon, you haven't removed the player interaction part of the game by removing the mob execution mechanic. The game is touted as PvP so this mechanic with mobs executing to make your gear available to PLAYERS is out of place. Personally I don't feel comfortable with progression loss to PvE. You want to limit progression loss to where you feel comfortable. I'm just saying for all you "hardcore" players thinking you are hardcore, you aren't. I played many many hours of Exanima but as it was in Beta also when I played it, I was looking for other games with more development.

So you agree then that losing progression sucks?Īctually yes, I have played Angband for decades, its still a great game even though its just an symbol running into letters in a text dungeon.ĭying sux, you have to start over, and so you are stupidly cautious because the further you get the worse the consequences are. It wouldn't work in Albion since the game revolves around PvP, it's even encouraged in a big part of the gameworld. There's experience loss in tibia but nobody attacks others on sight because of the consequences and the skull system so PvP and death there is more meaningful. And the term "full-loot", which is used by devs to advertise the game, indicates that you may die and drop your gear. Simple answer: because in Albion Online you're expected to die once in a while depends on your playstyle and skill. So, why stop at mobs executing and taking your gear, why not introduce full death mechanic, you know for those "hardcore" players that think only limiting it to gear loss is far enough? To all the "hardcore" elitists that say that dying and losing your gear in every circumstance makes a game hardcore why aren't you petitioning for losing all progression and your character wipes upon death?Įver played nethack/angband? No second chances there.Įxanima? Dying means you really died and you start over.
